Description:
BioShock is a unique game that mixes a spine-chilling setting illustrated with art deco
architecture and art, sci-fi themes of bio-genetic mutation and self-modification, a deep
storyline with open-choice freedom to interact with the world as you choose, and FPS

Bioshock – Cracks:
I reccommend installing with the fix included with the download. If you have any problems, then try a different fix
These fixes are presented here for reference purposes. Their being posted here does NOT mean they ALL work with this ISO
I can only give my personal validation to the included fix.
Date in BLUE indicates the file's "Modified" date. Every fix includes the correct NFO, if available.
Bioshock Installation
1. Extract and Mount (or Burn), begin installation
If you get "CRC failed in file name. The file is corrupt"! or other WinRar error, try using the repair command:
Open Winrar from the Start Menu. Navigate to and select the damaged file. Click "Repair" on the toolbar
2. When the game tries to update, a "wrong cd inserted" error will appear .
DON'T ABORT YET. this is crucial. as soon as you click abort, the files will delete. So...
For XP: End the "_is8.exe" process in the Task Manager. This leaves the "2K Games" folder intact..
Proceed to step 4
For Vista: First make a copy of the "2K Games" folder in "C:\Program Files\".
.Paste it somewhere. THEN click abort.
3. For Vista: Place the copied "2K Games" folder in "C:\Program Files".
4. Copy cracks "paul.dll" & "Bioshock.exe" & "secu.eg.reg" into the "2K Games" folder.
5. Run secu.eg.reg (importing it into the registry).
6. Enjoy.

Just a tip guys: Instead of copying the game folder before pressing the finish button [as per the instructions in the download], you can just end "_is8.exe" in task manager. Much easier, takes less time.

Thank you. Installed, working. Don't use the vitality crack for 1.1, use the detonation crack.
For the patching put the cracked .exe into C:\Program Files\2K Games\BioShock\Builds\Release and that will make the patch work.

2) Performance
2.1 Resolution
It is recommended that when running the game on a minimum specification machine screen resolutions of either 640*480 or 800*600 be used. On a recommended specification machine resolutions of 1152*864 should provide good performance. On a high end machine 1280*1024 on a standard 17 inch LCD monitor will give very good performance.
2.2 CPU Speed
-------------
BioShock is optimized for dual core machines. If the game is run on a single core machine then a processor of 2.5GHz or better is required to get reasonable performance. The higher the clock speed of the processor the better the game will run. Most dual core machines will be optimum for BioShock
2.3 Memory
----------
Memory or RAM can sometimes greatly affect game play. Machines with less memory will access their hard disk more frequently to load data, which causes sporadic pauses in game play. Machines with a lower end processor and video card that has 256 MB of RAM or less, should make sure that there are no active running programs in the background. This will optimize performance and make the gaming experience better for the user.
For good performance we recommend at least 1 Gigabyte of system memory. For optimum performance we recommend at least 2 Gigabyte of system memory.
2.4 Better Performance for your Game
------------------------------------
A faster graphics card on a slower PC may receive significantly increased frame rates and performance benefits when Shadow Maps are turned off and Texture Detail, High Detail Post Processing, and Real Time Reflection mapping is also turned off.
For best performance, we recommend a dual core processor and either a Nvidia 8800 or an ATI® Radeon™ X1950 or 2900XT equivalent card.
If performance issues are observed then it is recommended that the user selects a lower screen resolution and lower details setting from the video options screen. If the user is not using an EAX® compatible sound card then disabling "reverb" from the audio options screen will also improve performance.
BINKW32.DLL ERROR FIX
A few players have reported binkw32.dll errors. This is related to the Bink video codec.
This download contains a binkw32.dll file from a working bioshock installation on Windows XP Pro SP3 x32.
Also included: Rad Video Tools by Rad Tools, Inc., the original source of the Bink codec used by game programmers

A note about NFO files
nfo files are not native to windows, so it doesn't know what to open it with.
To open, right-click the .nfo file, select "Open With"
and then click "Notepad"
it will then open as a txt.
To permanently associate the .nfo extention with notepad, follow these steps:
1) Click "Start"
2) Click "Control Panel"
3) Click "Folder Options" icon (classic view)
4) Click "File Types" tab
5) Find "NFO" on the list (press "n" to go to that letter)*
6) Highlight the "NFO" selection
7) Click "Change", then scroll down the list until you find notepad (or wordpad)
8) Click "Notepad"
9) Click "OK" and then again
After making this permanent file association, to open an .nfo file just double-click it and it will open in Notepad (instead of System Information!).
*If you get to step 5 and there is no "NFO" entry, MAKE ONE.
Click "New", then type in upper-case___NFO
Click "OK" and then return to step 5
